Welcome to Georgia Cancer Foundation

Texas Hold ‘Em Fundraiser Set For September 14th

Inaugural Poker Themed Event to Benefit Georgia Cancer Foundation

The inaugural Texas Hold ‘Em Event––a poker tournament presented by Kick Cancer’s Butt––will be held September 14 at The View at King Plow, organizers recently announced. The event will benefit the Georgia Cancer Foundation (GCF), a statewide 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to cancer education, early detection, and support.

“This event is a wonderful way to help raise money for cancer support,” said Rudy Morgan, Executive Director of GCF. “It’s an extraordinary opportunity to serve Georgia’s cancer community.”

The VIP reception will begin at 7:00 p.m., during which members of the 64-player tournament will take their seats in front of professional dealers. The tournament will be well underway by 7:30 p.m., at which point nearly 500 general admission guests will be invited to enjoy an open bar, delicious food, and free poker play as tables open.

In addition, the event’s activities will include a “diamond dip,” where for $40 guests will have the chance to pick from a martini glass what they hope is the real diamond amidst 149 cubic zirconia. All gems will be provided by Gems in Art, and the winner will have their diamond set by artist Joshua Avella.

During the evening’s silent auction, guests may bid on specialized items and services such as BowWOW dogsitting, hand-designed doggie bowls, and gourmet dog treats, Big Tattoo Wine, and glass blowing classes and one-of-a-kind blown wine glasses provided by artist Matt Janke. The live auction will include such items as a one-week stay at a cottage in the Abacos Islands in the Bahamas and original paintings by artist Tia Lynn, founder of Kick Cancer’s Butt.

“The tournament winner will receive a first-place trophy and bragging rights for being the first Texas Hold ‘Em Event champion,” said Tia. “The idea behind the entire event is for all the tough cowgirls and cowboys to join forces in a strong, positive, and powerful voice to ‘Kick Cancer’s Butt,’” she said.

General admission tickets are available for $100, while tournament participants must contribute an additional $50. Guests may contact Tia directly at info@kickcancersbutt.com for tickets, additional information, or sponsorship opportunities.

Tia has chosen GCF as the recipient of this signature event due to their extensive programs addressing cancer issues throughout the state of Georgia.

Kick Cancer’s Butt (KCB) is dedicated to providing strength and financial support for selected cancer programs and research. Tia, a native Texan, believes in the healing power of art and her images pay homage to those who have been touched by cancer.
