Georgia Cancer Foundation, Ameriprise Financial Form Business Alliance to Fight Cancer

Three Year Deal Includes Title Sponsorship of Texas Hold ‘Em Event

The Georgia Cancer Foundation (GCF)—a Dunwoody-based statewide 501(c)(3) non-profit—recently announced a partnership with Ameriprise Financial (AF) that includes the title sponsorship of the new Kick Cancer’s Butt Texas Hold ‘Em Fundraiser event.

AF financial advisor Alex Watson will give $30,000 over three years for the rights to be called the “Royal Flush” sponsor. Additionally, GCF-referred consultations with Watson will result in a $50 donation from AF in that person’s name to GCF.

“We are extremely grateful to Ameriprise for stepping up and making this deal happen,” said Rudy Morgan, GCF Executive Director. “We look forward to a long-lasting partnership.”

Anyone wishing to contact Watson to set up a financial consultation may do so through his web site: www.ameripriseadvisors.com/george.a.watson.

“I feel very fortunate that I can do my job and help out a wonderful cause like the Georgia Cancer Foundation. I’m also looking forward to being part of the exciting Texas Hold ‘Em event for years to come,” said Watson.

The poker-themed fundraiser is much more than just a hold ‘em tournament. In addition to the professionally run tournament, the evening will consist of silent and live auctions, free poker play, a “diamond dip” (for $40 guests will have the chance to pick from a martini glass what they hope is the real diamond amidst 149 cubic zirconia), an open bar, and delicious food.

The event will take place September 14 at The View at King Plow (955 W. Marietta St., Entrance #7). Festivities begin at 7 p.m. The cost is $100 for general admission (non-tournament player) and $150 for a tournament player.

Artist Tia Lynn, founder of Kick Cancer’s Butt (KCB) and the Texas Hold ‘Em fundraiser, said this event is another way for people to help get involved in the fight against cancer.

“This is going to be a fabulous evening of great poker play, camaraderie, and plain old fun,” said Tia. “Everyone who participates will be kicking cancer’s butt!”
