Pink Ribbons Luncheon & Fashion Show 2006

The12th Annual Pink Ribbons Luncheon and Fashion Show is a community-wide event focusing on an important women’s health issue—breast cancer. In 2006, the event will again benefit Georgia Cancer Foundation’s Bosom Buddies programs, as well as the Georgia Breast Cancer Coalition Fund. Pink Ribbons was created for Georgia women who are fighting breast cancer and for those who may encounter it in the future, either directly or through loved ones.

This year’s Pink Ribbons event will be held at the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead on Monday, October 30. Debbie Ambroze chairs an active Host Committee that includes breast cancer survivors, business and community leaders, and health care professionals who deal with various aspects of breast cancer. Tickets are $100 per person.

Presenting partners are Parisian and Georgia Plastic Surgery. Among other event sponsors are Northside Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, Travelgirl magazine, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Southern Company, Georgia Power Company, Tiffany and Co., BellSouth, and Cingular. The Pink Ribbons organization (Kidejapa) is a non-profit, tax-deductible 501(c)(3) organization.

Thanks to sponsors and silent auction donors in 2005, Pink Ribbons raised $75,000 with 550 people gathering to enjoy the event. The Foundation’s portion of the proceeds added much-needed funding for its Low Cost Mammogram Program that provides affordable mammograms to women who are uninsured, under-insured or unemployed. This vital service has tripled in size since 2004 and provided 164 procedures last year to Georgia women in need, with the support of this event and other grants.

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among women aged 40 to 55 and the second leading cause of cancer death for women of all ages. Help make a difference in the fight against breast cancer by calling 770-643-1807 for ticket information or to find out how you may donate a silent auction item.
