Frances Wand, a Breast Cancer Survivor, Has Been Named the New Director of Breast Cancer Services for the Georgia Cancer Foundation

The Georgia Cancer Foundation (GCF), a Georgia non-profit organization based in Dunwoody, has announced the hiring of 18-month breast cancer survivor and Marietta resident Frances Wand as the new Director of Breast Cancer Services.

“Frances is perfect for this position and will provide outstanding leadership for Bosom Buddies' Breast Cancer Support Groups, Camp Renewal Educational Conference, Celebration of Life Luncheon & Fashion Show, health fairs, and Angel Boutique operations,” said Brenda Horne, Executive Director of GCF. “She's a high-energy person whose compassion for women with breast cancer springs from her own struggle to overcome tremendous obstacles throughout her diagnosis and treatment."

Wand's personal experience with Bosom Buddies of Georgia (BBG) began when she joined one of the support groups following her diagnosis. She also became an activist with other groups focusing on breast cancer survivorship and ran a half-marathon in Hawaii to benefit the American Stroke Association.

“GCF and Bosom Buddies of Georgia have done exceptional work for breast cancer and I am proud to be part of this organization,” said Wand. “Accepting this position will allow me to continue to educate women, provide support, and continue the fight to eradicate breast cancer.”

BBG is recognized as an affiliate program of GCF following a merger in 2004. All BBG programs remain intact post-merger, including a Low Cost Mammogram Program for women who are uninsured or under-insured, and a Minority Outreach Program that touches thousands of women each year.
